If you tick the box when you sign up, or turn on "Job emails" in your profile, we email you new jobs on English Jobs in Germany that match the roles and cities you picked. We only send these emails if you have agreed to them, and we keep a record of when and where you agreed and the exact wording you saw. If you sign up with email, your agreement only counts once you have clicked the link in our confirmation email.
To choose which jobs to send you, we use the roles and cities you picked and leave out jobs you already applied to. If you have not picked any roles, we send the new jobs that the most people applied to that week. To see whether the emails are useful, we record whether each email was delivered or bounced, which job links in it were clicked, and whether you then pressed Apply. The links carry a reference to the email (not your name or address), and a cookie keeps that reference for one day on our site. We also record whether a job email was opened, using a small image in the email that our email provider (Resend) counts when your email app loads it. Some email apps load images automatically, so this is approximate. You can block it by turning off images in your email app.
You can also get job emails without an account: the "Get these jobs by email" box on role, city and job pages and a small sign-up card ask for your name and email address and which jobs you want (for example "Customer Success jobs, Remote"). We send you one email to confirm, and only send job emails after you click its button. We keep your name, email address, the jobs you chose, and when and where you agreed, until you unsubscribe. Your browser remembers whether you already signed up or closed the card, so we do not ask again for 30 days. The same applies to the name and email form on our Pro page, which also signs you up for the email on the day Pro launches.
Other emails you agree to. When you give us your email address and agree (on sign-up, in your profile, in a sign-up box or on our Pro page), the sentence next to the box says which emails you agree to: new jobs and job feeds, news about new features and products (including Pro), offers and promotions, and short feedback surveys from English Jobs in Germany. We keep the exact sentence you saw. People who agreed earlier with a narrower sentence only get what that sentence said. The same "Unsubscribe" link and profile switch stop all of these emails.
You can stop these emails at any time: click "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any job email, use your email app's unsubscribe button, or turn off "Job emails" in your profile. Stopping them does not affect your account. Emails about your account itself, such as confirming your address or resetting your password, are not job emails and are sent when you ask for them.
Pro poll. If you answer the poll on our Pro page, we keep your account's email address, when you answered, and your answers: whether you would use Pro, and optionally which plan you would pick, which features would help you most and any suggestion you type. We use them to decide what to build. If you tick "Email me when Pro launches", we also keep the exact sentence you agreed to and email you when Pro launches, and the other emails that sentence lists. You can change or delete your answers on the Pro page at any time.

Google Analytics 4 uses specialized cookies and automatically anonymizes IP addresses before data is logged. If you are a logged-in user, we may also transmit a pseudonymized User-ID to Google to associate your sessions across multiple devices, but this ID cannot be used by Google to directly identify you by name or email.

We use PostHog, a product analytics service provided by PostHog Inc., with data hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt). It tells us how many people visit, which pages and jobs they look at and which features they use, so we can improve the platform.
Until you accept cookies, PostHog runs in cookieless mode: nothing is stored on your device, and visits are counted with an anonymous hash computed on PostHog's servers that changes daily and cannot be traced back to you. If you click "Accept All", PostHog may store an identifier in a cookie and local storage so your visits can be linked; if you are logged in, we then send a pseudonymized User-ID (never your name or email). Only if you click "Accept All", PostHog also makes a session recording: a replay of how you move through the site (pages, clicks, scrolling), with all text on the page and everything you type hidden, so we can see where people get stuck. Recordings are kept for 30 days. If you decline or have not chosen, nothing is recorded. After you press Apply, PostHog may show you a short optional question about whether you found what you were looking for; your answer is stored with the same identifier as your other visits.
Some actions happen on our servers rather than in your browser: signing up, confirming your email, logging in, completing onboarding, saving a job and clicking through to apply. We report these to PostHog too. If you accepted cookies, they are linked to the same identifier as your other visits. If you did not, they are sent as a bare count with a random identifier that is different for every action, without your User-ID, without any location data and without linking them to you or to each other. In both cases the report includes your browser's user-agent string (browser, operating system and device type), the same information your browser sends with every page request, so that visits by bots and crawlers can be kept out of our statistics. PostHog also receives technical error reports from the page (for example the error message and the page it happened on) so we can fix bugs. Our servers also send PostHog their technical logs (for example that a scheduled job ran, or an error with the page address it happened on). These logs may contain your User-ID; email addresses, IP addresses, passwords and access keys are removed before they are sent. When you upload a CV, we tell PostHog how long reading it with our AI service (Google Gemini) took, how much text it processed and whether it worked; the CV itself and what the AI read from it are never sent to PostHog.
To analyse how the platform is used over time, PostHog also receives a read-only copy of part of our own records: the job listings and companies, the activity log of the platform (page and job views, searches, saves, sign-ups and clicks through to apply, each tied only to a pseudonymous ID), and for members a pseudonymized profile summary (when you joined, how you found us, your job preferences, and facts from your CV such as years of experience, seniority and skills). PostHog never receives your name, email address, LinkedIn profile, CV file or CV text. PostHog acts as our data processor under a data processing agreement, and the data stays in the EU.
