Job Title: Software Engineer - C# Backend Platform Engineering (m/f/d)Location: On-site – Stuttgart, GermanyEmployment Type: Full-timeDepartment: Trimble Field SystemsReports To: Cloud Engineering ManagerAbout The RoleWant to build the data infrastructure that will power the global evolution of digital construction?The Stuttgart office of Trimble Inc. is looking for a skilled C# Backend Platform Engineer with a strong foundation in cloud technologies to join our engineering team.The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain backend services that power our scalable, secure, and high-performance geospatial cloud-based applications. You’ll collaborate closely with global, cross-functional teams to deliver robust APIs, efficient data processing pipelines, and seamless integrations across platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain geospatial backend services using C# (.NET Core / .NET 6+)Build and optimize cloud-native geospatial applications leveraging Azure / AWS / GCP servicesImplement RESTful OpenAPI spec APIs, data models, and asynchronous processing systemsWrite Python scripts for automation, testing, data analysis, or integration tasksEnsure scalability, reliability, and performance of backend componentsIntegrate and manage SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and data teamsConduct code reviews, write unit/integration tests, and follow best coding practicesParticipate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical design decisionsRequired Skills & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable professional experience.3+ years of experience in backend development using C# and .NET CoreHands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP also considered)Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, or backend logicStrong understanding of API design, microservices, and distributed systemsFamiliarity with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)Strong database skills: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server or similarExperience with version control (Git) and agile development methodologiesStrong understanding of Linux system administration fundamentalsFamiliarity with monitoring and logging tools (Application Insights, ELK, Prometheus, etc.)Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code experienceLarge scale cloud application experience, with demonstrable ability to troubleshoot and solve production issues.Preferred QualificationsExperience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with serverless architectures (e.g., Azure Functions, AWS Lambda)Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure Service Bus)Exposure to machine learning pipelines or data engineering using Python and / or Scala / SparkExperience with geospatial datatypes (raster, vector, point cloud, mesh)Soft SkillsExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong communication and teamwork abilitiesSelf-motivated and proactive with a focus on quality and deliveryAbility to adapt quickly to new technologies and challengesBenefitsCompetitive salary and performance bonusesFlexible work hoursProfessional development budget and certifications supportCollaborative and inclusive team cultureAbout TrimbleDedicated to the world’s tomorrow, Trimble is a technology company delivering solutions that enable our customers to work in new ways to measure, build, grow and move goods for a better quality of life.
