Senior DevOps Engineer

Team Description

The Platform Tribe at SumUp builds Fleet, the infrastructure foundation that every engineering team at SumUp relies on to ship safely and quickly, giving teams a stable, self-service platform built on AWS, Kubernetes and Terraform. This role is office-first, based in Berlin.

What You'll Do

• Design and maintain Terraform modules and infrastructure patterns that other engineering teams build on.
• Manage production Kubernetes (EKS) clusters, including performance tuning and service mesh implementation.
• Lead security and compliance work across frameworks such as PCI DSS and SOC2, partnering with the Security team.
• Define and monitor service reliability metrics, take part in on-call rotation, and drive improvements after incidents.
• Improve developer experience through automation, better CI/CD pipelines, and clearer documentation.

You'll Be Great for This Role If

• At least 8 years of experience in DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
• Proven hands-on experience in software development (Go preferred).
• Experience designing and maintaining infrastructure as code, ideally with Terraform.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes in production, including cluster operations and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with core AWS services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, and load balancing.
