Research Engineer – Machine Learning & Medical Imaging

Your Mission

As a Research Engineer, you will develop machine learning solutions for challenging medical imaging applications and help turn research ideas into robust, working software. You will contribute across the full machine learning workflow: from understanding the problem and working with medical imaging data to developing, evaluating, and integrating models.

This role is ideal for someone who combines a strong research mindset with an interest in programming and engineering and who is motivated by applying technology to meaningful healthcare challenges.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate machine learning solutions for medical imaging applications.
• Contribute to customer projects by understanding and solving their technical and clinical challenges.
• Translate research ideas and prototypes into robust, reusable and well crafted software solutions.
• Work across the full machine learning workflow, including data preparation, model development, validation, and integration.
• Communicate results and technical concepts clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

Your Profile

Must-haves

• PhD (or MSc degree with industry experience) in a related field, combined with a strong interest in software engineering
• Strong machine learning skills and a solid understanding of the full machine learning workflow
• Experience working with medical imaging data and applications
• Good programming skills in Python
• A motivated, proactive, team player and solution-oriented working style
• Strong communication skills and an interest in collaborating with customers
• Very good English skills

Nice-to-haves

• Experience translating research prototypes into robust software
• Experience working in customer-facing or interdisciplinary projects
• Experience with or willingness to learn C++

We are hiring across the European Union. While this role can be performed remotely, being based in or around Munich and interested in regularly joining us in the office would be an advantage.
