This position involves working in an interdisciplinary, international environment where cutting-edge technologies and research are integrated to develop solutions that optimize our logistics processes. You will be responsible for leading complex data science initiatives, from conception through implementation, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Your expertise will be crucial in developing sophisticated algorithms and machine learning models, including large language models (LLMs), to address real-world logistical challenges.

You will actively stay informed about the latest advancements in research and industry best practices, proposing strategies to improve project efficiency and effectiveness. As a key internal resource, you will share your knowledge with colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Additionally, you will represent SSI Schäfer at relevant industry conferences and events, showcasing our technological leadership and contributing to our reputation as a forward-thinking organization.QualificationsThe ideal candidate holds a university degree in Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, with at least five years of professional experience in data science, particularly focusing on large language models (LLMs).

Travel flexibility is required for client meetings, conferences, or collaborative projects. Expertise in natural language processing (NLP), LLMs, and agentic AI is essential, along with strong programming skills in Python and relevant libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy. Proficiency in SQL and experience with frameworks like Hugging Face, LangChain, and scikit-learn are necessary.

A foundational understanding of MLOps, including deployment tools like Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, is also important. Knowledge of intralogistics processes and their specific challenges will be advantageous. Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Azure, and software engineering practices will support successful project execution.

The role requires a self-driven, customer-oriented, and adaptable working style, with a passion for exploring new topics.
