Mission Brief
The Supply Chain Leader will own the end-to-end supply chain for the new development programme, ensuring the right materials, suppliers, capacity and prototype manufacturing capability are available to meet programme milestones. The role brings Planning, Purchasing and Fast Make Manufacturing together under a single leader, creating a responsive supply chain capable of supporting rapid engineering development and the transition into production.
Your Role in Our Space Mission
Supply Chain Leadership
- Develop and implement the supply-chain strategy for the development programme
- Lead Planning, Purchasing and Fast Make Manufacturing
- Establish scalable processes, systems and organisation to support development through production
- Provide clear supply-chain performance, risk and recovery reporting to the Director of Value Stream
Planning & Material Control
- Own material and capacity planning aligned to programme milestones
- Ensure critical and long-lead components are identified and secured early
- Drive build readiness and resolution of material shortages and constraints
Purchasing & Suppliers
- Develop sourcing strategies and build a capable, responsive supplier base
- Lead supplier selection, commercial negotiations and performance management
- Manage supplier Quality, Cost and Delivery performance
Fast Make Manufacturing
- Lead the Fast Make / prototyping capability supporting rapid engineering iteration
- Establish appropriate make/buy strategies and internal/external prototype capacity
- Reduce prototype manufacturing lead times while maintaining appropriate quality controls
Engineering & Programme Integration
- Embed Supply Chain into the engineering development process from the earliest stages
- Provide input on manufacturability, sourcing, cost, capacity and lead time
Risk, Cost & Performance
- Establish a critical component and supplier risk management process
- Manage development procurement spend and identify cost-reduction opportunities
- Establish KPIs covering material availability, supplier performance, prototype lead time, shortages and programme readiness
Qualification Checklist
- Significant leadership experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing or Procurement
- Experience supporting complex engineering or new product development programmes
- Strong understanding of Planning, Procurement and Manufacturing
- Experience with prototype, low-volume or fast-turn manufacturing
- Proven supplier management and commercial capability
- Experience building and developing high-performing supply-chain teams
