Senior Software Engineer - Data

What You'll Do

As (Senior) Software Engineer – Data at Snke you will help build and scale the data infrastructure that empowers our Research & Development teams to automate the testing and evaluation of medical software using large-scale datasets. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and operating modern data platforms, pipelines, and services that enable efficient data processing and analysis.

You will:

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient data platforms and architectures
• Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data
• Build, deploy and manage data storage systems and databases, such as Apache Iceberg or MongoDB
• Develop, optimize and enforce data quality, lineage, compliance, and security controls across the system
• Write services for data ingestion, access and processing
• Collaborate with data analysts to support reporting, analytics, and machine learning use cases
• Document data models, processes, architectures, and best practices
• Contribute to a collaborative and innovative engineering culture while working alongside a talented team at our Munich headquarters

What We're Looking For

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong experience in data engineering and modern data platform development
• Solid understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data engineering best practices
• Hands-on experience with Python, Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, and/or Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Experience with modern software development practices, including CI/CD, containerization, and GitHub Actions
• Experience building and operating cloud-based solutions, ideally on AWS
• Familiarity with healthcare standards such as FHIR or DICOM is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and pragmatic approach to work
• A collaborative mindset, excellent teamwork skills, and a passion for continuous learning and professional growth
• Excellent communication skills in English; German language skills are an advantage
