Senior Software Developer – Platform & Infrastructure Engineering (all genders)

Your Creative Field

We are looking for two full-time, permanent Senior Software Developer – Platform & Infrastructure Engineering (all genders) to start as soon as possible. We live remote-first within Germany, but you have the freedom to choose whether you want to work hybrid or completely on-site due to your proximity to one of our locations.

You'll become an integral part of a new team which is going to be responsible for the creation and maintenance of Contabo's new product line. You'll be part of a new team in a greenfield scenario making design, code and infrastructure decisions based on our product strategy and time-to-market.

We're looking for brave, pragmatic risk takers who find a balance between speed and perfectionism, who participate in on-call but also proactively work with the team on improving the redundancy of our systems.

Your main focus is going to be creating the business logic side of our new product line, which means authentication, exposing infrastructure primitives such as virtual servers, storage, networking but also accounts, project, feature flags and everything else that comes with it. As the core team, you'll be exposing our new product not just to our customers but other internal teams who will be able to build on top of our primitives to create more value on top like managed services.

What Convinces Us

Your personality, paired with:

Backend & API Engineering

• Production experience with at least one modern backend language (Go, Python, Java, or Rust)
• Experience designing and building APIs as a stable interface for infrastructure consumption

Infrastructure

• Familiarity with IaaS provisioning stacks: OpenStack (Nova/Ironic/Octavia), KubeVirt/QEMU/libvirt, Ceph, LVM
• Kubernetes or comparable orchestration in production
• Virtualization platforms (KVM/OpenStack or similar)
• Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Ansible)
• Large-scale infrastructure operations

Mindset & Ways of Working

• Solution-agnostic: evaluates build-vs-buy without defaulting to a specific stack
• Ownership that spans backend and infrastructure, not one or the other
• Comfortable with on-call and production incident response

Plus: 10+ years combined experience, English fluent, German nice to have
