Software Engineer — Test Automation, Creative Music Apps

Summary

Apple's Creative Music Apps team in Rellingen (Germany) is seeking a skilled test automation engineer who will design, build, and maintain the automation infrastructure that keeps Apple's music applications at the highest level of quality and reliability.

This includes developing and extending automated test pipelines across macOS, iOS & iPadOS. This person should be passionate about test engineering, continuous integration, and delivering robust tooling that empowers the broader QA organization. The ideal candidate will combine strong engineering fundamentals with a methodical, quality-driven mindset and excellent collaboration skills.

Description

This role involves designing and implementing automated test solutions that are central to our quality assurance strategy — from end-to-end test pipelines to lab infrastructure automation and scalable test creation frameworks.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with development and QA teams to identify automation opportunities, improve test coverage, and accelerate feedback cycles across the entire software delivery process.

Responsibilities

Designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and CI/CD test pipelines.Building and maintaining lab setup automation for physical and virtual test environments.Creating and extending automated test cases for new features and regression coverage.Analyzing test results, triaging failures, and collaborating with engineers to resolve issues efficiently.Continuously improving automation infrastructure for reliability, speed, and scalability.Evaluating and integrating new tools and technologies to advance the team's automation capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Hands-on experience in test automation, including framework development and pipeline integration.Experience with CI/CD systems and automated build/test workflows.Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Swift, Shell).Experience with lab or device setup automation and environment provisioning.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.Experience with Apple platforms (macOS, iOS, iPadOS) and their testing frameworks (e.g., XCTest, XCUITest).Familiarity with audio applications or Digital Audio Workstations.Experience with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools.Knowledge of music theory, notation, or audio recording workflows.An unwillingness to settle for a product — or a test — that is just 'good enough'.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills.
