What it means
The legal registration of your residential address with the local Bürgeramt (citizens' office), required within 14 days of moving into a permanent home in Germany. It produces a Meldebescheinigung (registration certificate).
In practice
HR will usually ask for your Meldebescheinigung during onboarding, since your Anmeldung address is what goes on your tax ID and payroll records.
